Charlie Hammonds, Special Assistant to the Mayor

Charlie Hammonds has held the office of Special Assistant to the Mayor since 1991. Prior to that, Mr. Hammonds spent over 22 years as a Hazard City Commissioner. He owned and operated a number of gas stations for many years, including Hammonds' Shell, which used to be located on the spot now occupied by the Shell Mart on East Main Street. Mr. Hammonds holds a seat on the Board of Governors of ARH and the Bluegrass State Skills Board. He helped establish the Perry County Ambulance Service, and sits on its Board of Directors, and is involved in The Rennaisance Committee, a downtown revitalization project. Originally from Vicco, Mr. Hammonds is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and now lives in Lothair. He and his wife, Bonnie, have two sons (Bob and Tom), and five grandchildren.
